For a long time, I lived two lives.

There was the outer one, the polished one; where I showed up with a smile, supported clients, built my business, and did all the “right” things. And then there was the private one. The one filled with emotional landmines, hidden diagnoses, unpredictable meltdowns, and deep, bone-weariness from carrying what no one else could see.

It wasn’t just hard, it was hidden.
And that, I’ve come to realise, was the heaviest part of all.

Recently, something changed.

Not because everything got easier (spoiler: it didn’t).
But because we stopped pretending.

When you’re living with neurodiversity in your family, whether it’s autism, PDA, ADHD, or anything else that doesn’t fit the mainstream narrative, there’s often a period of survival through silence.

You try to make it look “normal.”
You avoid explaining why plans fall apart.
You pretend everything’s fine because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do.
You don’t want to burden your children, your friends, or even yourself.

But over time, the pressure builds. The masking hurts. The silence becomes unbearable.

And then, sometimes unexpectedly; something shifts.

For me, it was a conversation with my older son.

​A moment of truth.

A realisation that he deserves to know what’s real.

​That we all do.

And with that, the spell broke.

​We’re not hiding anymore.

Once the mask comes off, at home, in business, or in life; there’s no going back. And that’s a good thing. Because truth, even when it’s raw and painful, is where healing begins.

We’re now in a new season as a family. One where we can name things. Where emotional regulation is talked about. Where neurodivergence isn’t something to be feared or hidden, but simply understood and accommodated.

And yes; it’s messy. It’s vulnerable. Sometimes I feel like I’m fumbling through.
But it’s also honest. And there’s so much peace in that.

The truth? Everything.

Trying to build something beautiful while quietly managing things no one else sees.

Some are navigating chronic illness, grief, motherhood, burnout, caring for neurodivergent children or partners; or carrying the pressure of being the strong one in a fragile household.

They look fine on the outside.
But inside? They’re exhausted. Doubting. Wondering if they’re the only ones not “holding it all together.”

And to them, and maybe to you; I want to say this:

The kind of leadership I teach isn’t about flawless feeds, perfect launches, or pretending your life is seamless.

I don’t know what comes next in this new chapter for me and my family.
But I do know this: we’re not pretending anymore.

And in that choice; raw, imperfect, but true. I’ve found a deeper kind of strength.
One that’s rooted not in perfection, but in presence.
