There’s something magical about the colder months that makes cozy crafts like knitting feel extra special. For me, knitting is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to slow down, create something beautiful, and connect with cherished memories. My love for knitting began in childhood, thanks to my amazing primary school teacher, Mrs. Murphy. She patiently guided my little hands, teaching me the rhythm and flow of creating something from a simple ball of yarn. But like many hobbies, knitting fell by the wayside during my busy 20s and 30s.
For years, I didn’t think much about knitting. It didn’t seem "cool," and life in Singapore’s tropical climate didn’t offer much encouragement. But when I moved to France eight years ago, the colder winters beckoned me back to the craft. What began as a small project to knit scarves and neck muffs quickly expanded into baby sweaters, blankets, and more. Now, every winter, I find myself reaching for my needles, ready to create once again.
This year, I’ve taken my knitting in a new direction—Christmas ornaments. Tiny knitted Christmas trees, festive baubles, and charming handmade decorations have become my latest obsession. These delightful creations are perfect for gift tags, stocking stuffers, or simply adding a personal touch to your holiday decor. In fact, a few friends have already requested some, which fills me with joy and inspiration.
